Célia Wa

 

Célia Wa est une flutiste, chanteuse, autrice, compositrice de musiques actuelles, initiée au Gwo Ka, en Guadeloupe, dès son plus jeune âge.

C’est du gwoka que viennent énergie et inspirations. 

De ces mains qui, lorsqu’elles ne sont pas un poing levé, martèlent les tambours, fières de leurs racines et de leur identité guadeloupéenne.

C’est de là que vient Celia Wa, de tout cela dont elle a hérité en partageant son enfance entre les Antilles et l’hexagone.

Après deux EP auto-produits, Wastral est la somme de ces d’inspirations et influences.

Sa flûte planante et virevoltante, effleurant ou attisant le groove, ses textes ravivant la mémoire de son île.

En créole ou en anglais, ils la racontent avec un présent qui n’oublie pas le passé.

Nouvelle signature féminine Heavenly Sweetness, Celia Wa dessine avec Wastral la carte d’un voyage stellaire avant-gardiste dans lequel l’étoile musicale de la Guadeloupe brille fort.

Celia Wa

Célia Wa is a flautist, singer, author, composer of modern music, initiated to Gwo Ka, in Guadeloupe, at a very young age.

Her energy and inspiration come from the Gwoka. 

From these hands which, when they are not a raised fist, pound the drums, proud of their roots and of their Guadeloupean identity.

 

This is where Celia Wa comes from, from all that she inherited by spending her childhood between the West Indies and France.

After two self-produced EPs, Wastral is the sum of these inspirations and influences.

Celia Wa's soaring, twirling flute grazes or stirring the groove, her lyrics reviving the memory of her island.

In Creole or in English, they tell the story in the present tense without forgetting the past. 

New feminine signature at Heavenly Sweetness, Celia Wa draws with Wastral the map of an avant-garde stellar journey in which the musical star of Guadeloupe shines bright.
